Welcome Building Public Art Programme – public workshops are a go!

Thursday 25 April 2024.

Artist Dorcas Casey held her first creative sculpture workshop with members of the public to start to animate the newly commissioned public artwork for the Welcome Building at Glass Wharf, Bristol.

The sessions gave people a chance to explore working with clay, mark making, pressing, sculpting, chatting about Bristol folklore, the old lands and inhabitants of Bristol’s waterways. People then were able to cast their creations, bringing them to life!  The castings will be directly used as part of the final artwork and people will be able to see and touch the parts they contributed towards.

The workshop took place with attendees from St Anne’s House Morning Meet-ups, a regular social group running Thursday mornings for those local to the area looking to connect and do light creative activities.

Join the process

The artist will be hosting more workshops during the project, and we’d love to invite you to help add your mark to this major commissioned Bristol artwork. If you’d like to express an interest in the project and receive future updates to get involved, you can say so through our online form here.

We’ll be in touch directly with you to invite you to any future activities happening with Dorcas Casey on this project.
