Becki Hiscocks – Anatomical in Motion

Initial pencil sketches, the skeleton in different positions
Skeleton sketches in non-traditional anatomical poses.

My proposal for the Bricks Micro commission is all about developing visual ideas of anatomy in motion via sequential drawings and animation. I want to think about how to step away from traditional static poses used to represent the body within medical art and produce a multi-faceted look at anatomical imagery.

Using aerial performance as the basis for exploratory movement, I started sketching the figure in a variety of positions, superimposing the skeleton and producing écorché drawings to display the musculature in non-traditional poses. The next step is to sketch some consecutive figure drawings to see if they suggest movement and flow.
