All-round weightlifting with Bristol Cooperative Gym

Experience the joy of lifting heavy things.
Develop strength through learning classic weightlifting exercises, drawing from powerlifting (squat, bench and deadlift), olympic weightlifting (snatch, clean and jerk) and the “forgotten” lifts of the 19th century strongmen and strongwomen (bent press, pullover, getup etc.).
The British Amateur Weightlifting Association used to recognise 150 competition lifts and now only adjudicates for three. All-Round Weightlifting aims to rescue the pleasure of lifting from that “sportification”, giving us more opportunities for play and experimentation so we can find the lifts that feel best for our bodies while building serious strength and mobility.
No experience is necessary! We will begin by lifting broomsticks and work up from there.
