DESCRIPTION:Experience the joy of lifting heavy things.  \nDevelop strength through learning classic weightlifting exercises\, drawing from powerlifting (squat\, bench and deadlift)\, olympic weightlifting (snatch\, clean and jerk) and the “forgotten” lifts of the 19th century strongmen and strongwomen (bent press\, pullover\, getup etc.). \nThe British Amateur Weightlifting Association used to recognise 150 competition lifts and now only adjudicates for three. All-Round Weightlifting aims to rescue the pleasure of lifting from that “sportification”\, giving us more opportunities for play and experimentation so we can find the lifts that feel best for our bodies while building serious strength and mobility. \nNo experience is necessary! We will begin by lifting broomsticks and work up from there.

The team have refurbished their space into a purpose-built design\, perfect for fitness classes and activities\, with newly fitted flooring and storage.

SUMMARY:All-round weightlifting with Bristol Cooperative Gym
DESCRIPTION:Experience the joy of lifting heavy things.  \nDevelop strength through learning classic weightlifting exercises\, drawing from powerlifting (squat\, bench and deadlift)\, olympic weightlifting (snatch\, clean and jerk) and the “forgotten” lifts of the 19th century strongmen and strongwomen (bent press\, pullover\, getup etc.). \nThe British Amateur Weightlifting Association used to recognise 150 competition lifts and now only adjudicates for three. All-Round Weightlifting aims to rescue the pleasure of lifting from that “sportification”\, giving us more opportunities for play and experimentation so we can find the lifts that feel best for our bodies while building serious strength and mobility. \nNo experience is necessary! We will begin by lifting broomsticks and work up from there.

They are set up in 2016 to offer an inclusive\, welcoming space for exercise free from assumptions around identity\, appearance and ability. \nBeing member-run means they can provide social health and fitness activities tailored to our members’ reasons for training and develop a culture that supports us in achieving our goals\, both individually and collectively. \nWhat sort of classes run? \nStrength circuit\, Strong and steady\, Functional HIIT\, All-round weightlifting\, Stretch and strengthen and more. \nAbout the space \nThe gym is located on the top floor of our dynamic\, creative and community hub. The team have refurbished their space into a purpose-built design\, perfect for fitness classes and activities\, with newly fitted flooring and storage.
