Paraorchestra – March 2023
Hosted in Mill Room at St Anne’s House
We were delighted to host The Paraorchestra Musicians in Residency programme at St Anne’s House this month. The programme was created in recognition of a lack of professional support and development opportunities for musicians identifying as D/deaf, disabled or neurodivergent.
The session was held in St Anne’s House’s Mill Room, and the group welcomed instruments from timpani, electric keyboards, cellos and violins into the space. The room was filled with alluring sounds that had been composed from a culmination of a year’s work led by vocalist and composer Rylan Gleave.
Over two days the room became home to the group, rehearsing and performing as an ensemble.
We thoroughly enjoyed having them in the Community Hub, and look forward to the future work they achieve. The residency is supported by Sky Arts.
“We’ve really enjoyed holding our latest round of R&Ds for our Musician in Residence programme at St Anne’s House. It’s always lovely to run sessions in a building that puts artists at its heart. The team at Bricks are friendly, happy to help and committed to providing affordable space for people developing creative ideas in Bristol.” – Paraorchestra team
If you would like to rehearse or practice in one of our hireable rooms, you can book by the hour by visiting here or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Did you know that when you hire a space you are enabling us to develop St Anne’s House as an asset to the whole community? The monies that come through hireable rooms go back into the building itself and the programming of activities, creativity, and welcoming events for the local community in St Anne’s and Bristol.
We thoroughly enjoy hosting Paraorchesta, and continue to be a rehearsal space they use regularly.
